The Most Important in UI Design Is …

UI Design and Visual Experience

Graphic user interface is often the embodiment of the product in the user’s eyes.

UI, just like any other part of the product’s visual identification, is an important communication component of the design as well as the business in general. The only difference is that during the UI design the designer needs to follow certain rules and principles.

The UI designer has two global tasks:

  1. Making communication understandable and convenient.
  2. Making communication emotionally acceptable and ideally emotionally desirable.

These tasks can be solved separately but the result will be far from what was expected: a pretty but inconvenient UI will make the product impractical. A convenient but emotionally distant, unattractive product will be unable to form a habit and, most importantly, a desire to use the product that is derived from emotion, not necessity.

That’s why it’s just as important to understand the user’s goals yourself as to give the user a clear vision of the ways he has to reach them. We try to do so that the interface serves the man, not so that the man is the “operator” of the interface, of the app.

As a result, the designer needs to design an understandable, convenient and attractive UI, solving these tasks as one.

There are many solutions. It’s possible to use the user experience with IT products not only for interaction but also for visual solutions. This is aided by the guidelines of the most popular systems.

Using guidelines provides great advantages: UIs become clear and familiar. Familiar interfaces are more attractive, the user instantly understands how to use this or that element of the UI. It’s fairly easy to learn how to use an app with familiar interface. One more important advantage is that it takes less time to develop such apps because the developer needs to spend less time customizing the components.

Apple (iOS)
Material Design (Google)

One of the obvious disadvantages is that there is no apparent individual style. But this disadvantage is relative, seeing that an absolutely individual style can be not understandable to the user, go against his preferences or just be not as detailed as Apple’s or Google’s.

That’s why if there are any hesitations about the decisions it’s better to use existing guidelines and individualize the product with the help of the color palette and choosing some small graphic elements etc. In the long run, the content is what makes your app unique.

Custom

The esthetics of the UI is in its accessibility, convenience, correct visual hierarchy and typographics.

We appreciate each design’s individuality. But design is communication and we try not to put any obstacles in the user’s way to his goal. User-centered design is more that “don’t make him think” or making the design primitively simple. User-centered design is useful and modern technologies in the service of humankind. That’s what we love, appreciate and try to use in our UIs.
